Comprehensive Music Classes for Children and Teens
North Ridge Music School offers different lessons for students ages 5 and above, including adults. We have a team of highly trained music instructors dedicated to helping individuals learn various instruments effectively.
Piano
Our piano lessons are geared toward the ability level and needs of each student. Using a step-by-step approach, our lessons develop an individual’s musical skills in a motivating and encouraging atmosphere. We provide instruction in the following areas:

The Suzuki Method
The Suzuki Piano Program follows the mother-tongue method developed by Dr. Shinichi Suzuki, defined in his work “Natured by Love.” Suzuki piano lessons are built upon a three-way bond between the parent, child, and teacher, creating an environment that enables the child to learn a musical instrument as they learned their native language.
The lessons are based on parental involvement during weekly private lessons, daily home practice sessions, and daily listening to the Suzuki Piano Repertoire on CD. In this program, prior musical experience is not necessary.

Beginners Class
We offer weekly private lessons for students ages five and above. Our classes include listening and theory exercises to provide a strong basis in the following areas:
Intermediate/Advanced Class
The lessons we offer for the more advanced player include instructions geared to the student’s own musical goals. We also provide them with an avenue for a more in-depth approach to musical expression, theory, and composition.
Other Lessons
Electric/Upright Bass
We offer weekly private lessons designed with the student’s style, musical taste, and ability level in mind. Our sessions help students achieve a proper, relaxed technique at the bass, create their own bass lines, and understand rhythms and meters. We also guide them on how to perform as an integral part of an ensemble.
Drum Set, Percussion, and Hand Drums
Our weekly private instruction in basic, intermediate, and advanced percussion techniques are available for students eight years and above. In our sessions, the students will choose from either the drum set or hand drum instruction. They will learn the fundamentals of rhythm, meter, beat, and notation in rock, jazz, and Afro-Cuban styles.
Voice
This lesson is for students ages eleven and above who are interested in singing or improving their singing voice. Our program use established vocal exercises, breathing techniques, and posture as bases for developing a physiologically correct technique for using the voice. These techniques are applied to repertoire styles of pop, rock, jazz, blues, and Broadway. Emphasis is placed on building the student’s self-confidence and poise while having fun.

Other Instruments
Instructions on select instruments are offered when a sufficient number of students enroll. We provide one-on-one lessons to develop their application of the technique and ability to play with confidence. Our private lessons are great for students who already participate in elementary and high school bands and want to further improve their skills.
